HUMAN MEMORIAL
“Moving it, from A to B” (2021)
“Moving it, from A to B”, part performance, part protest, part public engagement, transporting an empty plinth from A) Theatre Deli, to B) Sheffield Hallam University’s School of Art and Design, during lockdown. The performance charts the challenge of moving from one location to the next, and the public interactions and encounters that happen as a consequence. The documentation by Luke Walsh, accounts the people and places relating to public monuments, civic spaces and re-development in Sheffield City Centre. The title comes from a phrase developed across the performance, when asked “What are you doing?”, where the concept of the artwork is simply expressed as “I’m moving it, from A to B”.
