The Life Class Reconfigured (2009)

A series of life class workshop performances exploring new life drawing class exercises performed to the video camera, exploring surveillance, documentation and conditions where the ‘performance’ of the participant is activated.

A Body in Part - video stills (2009). Date: 30th September 2009, Venue: Usher Gallery. Participants drew from the model in sections, where completed drawings were presented to the video camera, held in the position relating to the body part depicted.

The Object Talks Back - video stills (2009). Date: 30th September 2009, Venue: Usher Gallery. The model was posed in front of a series of three artworks in the gallery, and asked questions about the artwork and what it was to be the model and become part of the artwork.

Model with a Video Camera - video stills (2009). Date: 30th September 2009, Venue: Usher Gallery. The model was given the video camera to document the drawers, while participants were asked to draw the model and the video camera.

The Copy - video stills (2009). Date: 30th September 2009, Venue: Usher Gallery. Participants were asked to work at easel stations that had been arranged in a line dissecting the gallery. Their task was to copy the drawing in front of them, more so, study the movement and gestures made by the participant and mimic this in their own copy of the drawing.

The Hall of Mirrors - video stills 7th October 2009, Venue: Tithe Barn Life Room. Participants were asked to work from an installation 'Untitled (Reflections)' (2009) including 'The Screasel' (2007) and 16 mirrors. Participants were asked to draw each other, and then themselves as model by locating their reflected image in the mirrors.
